To the King of Pop!

Unless you have been living in a cave, you are well aware that Michael Jackson passed away last night due to cardiac arrest. While his life has had it's ups and downs and many people hated him for the man he became, he was definetely "The King of Pop".

I have always loved his music, everything from "Billy Jean" to "Heal the World". His was a musical genius - he put down awesome beats and his lyrics have the ability to create emotion and strike chords with his fans. He had this amazing ability to bring people together, all races, religions, sexualities and more.

I was thinking about it this morning when I woke up, which made me do this blog post. Elvis Presley to my parents was a music icon, he was the "King of Rock N Roll"! I still listen to his music and he left his mark in history. He too, died a young death and was taken too soon. Michael Jacson to my generation, is like the Elvis Presley to our parents - only Michael is the "King of Pop".

So to a man who not only changed the music industry but was able to bring people together from all around the world to dance and rejoice, we will miss you. You may not have lived the best life is some people's eyes, but it wasn't an easy life either. You will be missed and you have left your mark. I will continue to screech your lyrics at the top of my lungs and dance my ass off everytime one of your songs comes on - and that is the best way I can think of to honor you.

A Night with Legends

This Tuesday, March 10 I had the chance to see two legends in concert - Billy Joel & Elton John. It was the best concert I have ever seen hands down. Not only do they write, play and sing beautiful music they didn't sell our like other artist and avoid playing their hits.

I was lucky enough to be one of the people who logged in and got tickets when they went on sale (of course with the ridiculous Ticketmaster feed added- BOO!!)

Like I said, they played the best songs. Both Billy Joel & Elton John played all their hits, such as "Your Song", "We Didn't Start the Fire", "Tiny Dancer" and much more. One of my all time favorite Elton John songs is "Daniel". Of course I was bouncing off the walls when it came on, I captured some video of it below. Please ignore my singing and swaying, it's such a classic.

I really enjoy their music and love that they play the piano. I guess I never talked about this previously, but I took piano lessons for most of my life. My Mom played the piano and I get my musical talent from her genes, but music is something I really enjoy. Playing any type of instrument calms me, but I really took to piano. Someday, when I own a house like this, I will have a grand piano in my living room and play all the time - maybe even start up lessons again.

Below is the finale song, "Piano Man", and you can tell the crowd was really loving it. I like this clip because it also captures some of their amazing piano skills as they both work the keys together.

All in all it was amazing. I feel really lucky I got to see them in concert with a great group of friends!
